These terms cover your use of inkmeascii.com, including the ASCII art generator, the games and blog, and ASCII Hub, the community area where people post the art they make. This site is inkmeascii.com, referred to below as "we" or "us". By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
The Generator
The generator is free and needs no account. The image you convert is processed in your browser and is never uploaded to us. You are responsible for having the right to use whatever image you feed into it.
Accounts
You need an account to post to ASCII Hub, to vote and to comment. You must be at least 13 years old. In countries where the minimum age for consenting to an online service on your own is higher, that higher age applies to you.
Give us a working email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Your handle is permanent and public, so pick one you can live with. Do not impersonate someone else, do not create accounts to get around a ban, and do not run networks of accounts to manipulate votes or rankings.
Your Content and the Licence You Give Us
You keep ownership of the ASCII art you post. We do not claim it and we are not taking it from you.
To be able to run the site at all, we need permission to hold your work and show it. So when you submit art or any other content to ASCII Hub, you grant inkmeascii.com a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, publicly display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating, improving and promoting the service. Adapting includes making thumbnails, generating the PNG rendering of your text, reformatting for different screens, and including your piece in previews, social cards, feeds and site promotion.
The licence lasts as long as your content is on the Hub. Delete a piece and the licence ends for that piece, other than for backup copies still working their way out of our systems and for copies other people already made, which we cannot recall. Deleting your account does not by itself remove art you already posted; see the section below.
You warrant that you own the content you submit or otherwise have the rights to submit it and to grant this licence, and that it does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.
Copying and Remixing Art on ASCII Hub
Copying art from the Hub is the point of the Hub. Unless a piece says otherwise, you may copy, paste, repost, remix and build on ASCII art that other people have published there. You do not need our permission and you do not need to ask us. Credit the original poster where you reasonably can, because it costs you nothing and it is how this stays fun.
Two limits. First, the person who posted a piece keeps their rights in it, so if they have attached their own conditions, or if the work is obviously someone else's property, respect that. Second, do not run bulk scrapes or automated harvesting of the Hub, and do not resell the gallery as a dataset or as a product of your own.
Our Own Material
The site itself is a different matter from the art on it. The inkmeascii.com name and logo, the site design, the interface, the written articles and blog posts, and the source code of the generator and the Hub belong to inkmeascii.com or its licensors, and are not covered by the permission above. Do not copy the site's code or design to build a clone, do not use our branding in a way that suggests we endorse you or that your service is ours, and do not republish our written articles wholesale. Normal quoting with a link is fine.
Acceptable Use
What you may and may not post on ASCII Hub is set out in our Content Policy, which forms part of these terms. Read it before you post. In short, do not post content that is illegal, sexual content involving minors, content that harasses or targets a person, or content whose rights are not yours to give.
Separately from what you post, do not attack or overload the service, do not probe it for vulnerabilities without asking us first, do not try to get at other users' accounts or data, and do not use automation to inflate votes, views or rankings.
Moderation and Enforcement
Submissions are screened automatically. Content can be held before it appears, removed after it appears, hidden from public listings, or edited down to remove a violating part. Accounts can be warned, restricted, suspended or banned. We may take these steps with or without notice, and we may do so on suspicion where waiting would cause harm.
We are not obliged to monitor everything posted, and screening being automated means it will sometimes be wrong in both directions. Nothing here makes us the publisher of what users post.
Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was restricted and you think it was a mistake, email [email protected] with the link or the handle and a sentence about why. A person will look at it, not a classifier, and we will tell you the outcome. Removals made by an automated system are always open to human review.
Copyright Complaints
If you believe something on the Hub infringes your copyright, the process for reporting it is on our copyright page. We remove infringing material when a valid notice is received, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
Ending Your Account
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account anonymises the authorship of art you already posted rather than erasing the art, so if you want particular pieces gone, delete those pieces first. This is explained in more detail in our Privacy Policy.
We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms or the Content Policy, if your use exposes us or other users to legal risk, or if we are required to. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why.
No Warranty on User Content
Art, comments, links and descriptions on ASCII Hub come from users, not from us. We do not endorse them, we do not verify who owns what, and we make no promise that any of it is accurate, lawful or safe to reuse. If you rely on user content, that is your call and your risk.
Changes to the Service
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site, including ASCII Hub, at any time. If we shut the Hub down permanently we will give account holders reasonable notice and a way to export what they posted.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you submitted or because of how you used the site, you agree to defend and indemnify inkmeascii.com against that claim, including reasonable legal costs. This does not apply to the extent the claim is caused by our own acts.
Disclaimer and Liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions relating to the site and its use. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error free.
Nothing in these terms will:
- limit or exclude our or your liability for death or personal injury;
- limit or exclude our or your liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- limit any of our or your liabilities in any way that is not permitted under applicable law; or
- exclude any of our or your liabilities that may not be excluded under applicable law.
Subject to that, and as long as the site and its services are provided free of charge, we will not be liable for any loss or damage of any nature arising from your use of the site, including loss of content, loss of data or loss of profits.

The site uses cookies, including a strictly necessary cookie that keeps you logged in. How they work and what you can turn off is in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when. If a change is material we will notify account holders by email or by a notice on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version.
General
If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country of residence.
If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
